Please find enclosed the national disaster management contingency plan for the 2022-2023 summer season as well as the seasonal spring 2022 profile. The National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC), in partnership with national sector departments, state-owned entities, and Provincial Disaster Management Centres, developed the plan which is risk-based.
This provides an insight into the forecast issued by SAWS combined with the hazard profile for various hazards produced by the NDMC during this contingency planning season.
The purpose is to provide a high-level, strategic and unifying framework that outlines measures needed to assist the country to deal with any emergencies and hazards predicted for the summer season. This is done through effective emergency preparedness mitigation, response and recovery efforts that will limit the impact and consequences of these hazards on the wellbeing of people, property, infrastructure and the environment.

Die Nasionale rampbestuursentrum (NDMC), in vennootskap met nasionale sektorale departemente, staatsbeheerde entiteite en Provinsiale Rampbestuursentrums, het die plan ontwikkel wat op risiko gebaseer is.
Dit bied ‘n insig in die voorspelling wat deur SAWD uitgereik is, insluitend die gevaarprofiel vir verskeie impakte wat deur die NDMC gedurende hierdie gebeurlikheidsbeplanningseisoen geïdentifiseer word.
Die doel is om ‘n hoëvlak, strategiese en verenigende raamwerk te verskaf wat maatreëls uiteensit wat nodig is om die land te help om enige noodgevalle en gevare wat vir die somerseisoen voorspel word, te hanteer. Dit word gedoen deur doeltreffende noodgereedheidversagting, reaksie en herstelpogings wat die impak en gevolge van hierdie gevare op die welstand van mense, eiendom, infrastruktuur en die omgewing sal beperk.
