Well done to our participants
Our Junior Trainers have proudly started awarding certificates to the committed participants of the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme.
A huge congratulations to each participant who has received their certificate so far and thank you to SA Youth and Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator for supporting the programme.
Tackling water challenges
Our Junior Trainers paid a visit to Mlekeleli Ndimande, a participant in the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme, who used the funding he received to upgrade his irrigation system. By tackling the water challenges in the eThekwini Municipality, Mlekeleli has helped secure the sustainability and growth of his spinach and lettuce enterprise.
Hopes for a bountiful harvest
In early August, our Junior Trainers visited Nozipho Zaca, a crop farmer in the Harry Gwala District and proud participant of our Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme. Despite the challenges of water shortages and frost, Nozipho remains optimistic about her 6000 cabbage seedlings and is looking forward to a bountiful harvest.
A flourishing enterprise
With the assistance of the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme, Silindile Ndlovu’s cabbage enterprise is flourishing. She recently planted 6000 seedlings in Underberg and is patiently awaiting harvest, and we are excited to see her succeed!
Broiler delivery
Sinethemba Zondi, and Luyanda Mkhize in Msunduzi have successfully built chicken coops with the assistance they received through the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme. During our visit, we also delivered three-week-old broilers to help kickstart their operations. A special thanks goes to our broiler supplier, Mr Bright Zikode from Nyonende.
Thriving cabbage operation
Thanks to the support that Neliswa Khanyile, from Swayimane, has received through the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme, her cabbage operation is thriving, and she hopes to harvest 30 000 cabbages.
Site visits in Msunduzi and Impendle
Our Junior Trainers visited the sites of the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme participants in Msunduzi and Impendle. We were also joined by the programme’s funders, SA Youth and Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, who were highly impressed with the participant’s progress.
These visits help us review each participant’s progress and see firsthand how training and assistance can help empower agripreneurs in rural areas, peri-urban towns, and townships. We are thrilled to report that may participants have already started trading chickens, eggs, goats, cattle, and vegetables.
Monitoring the programme’s success
In early May, our Junior Trainers visited the Kwanalu-Roots Agripreneur Programme participants in Impendle and Msunduzi.
Accompanied by Dr Kathy Hurly, Kwanalu’s WYRE Project Manager, and our supporters from Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, we monitored the progress of each participant as they put their training and resources into action.
