Section 77 Notice to strike across all Nine Provinces
Please see the attached notice of intention by COSATU to embark on protest action in “defence and promotion of socio-economic interests of workers and the working class in general”.
The section 77(1)(d) notice dated 8 August 2022 is pursuant to a 2020 section 77(1)(b) notice SAFTU Section 77 (1) (d) form (2) INTENTION TO STRIKE NOTICE 24 AUGUST 2022.doc and a Nedlac certificate Nedlac S77 Certificate to SAFTU signed issued on 13 April 2021. In terms of Section 77(1)(d) notice 20220805135044147, COSATU intends to embark on protest action on the 23rd and 24th of August in all nine provinces.
The protest action will be protected.
In terms of the Constitution “Every worker has the right”:
- to form and join a trade union
- to participate in the activities and programmes of a trade union; and
- to strike.
In terms of the Labour Relations Act(“LRA”), an essential service is a service in which the interruption thereof would endanger the life, personal safety, or health of the whole or any part of the population.
Remember to inform labour that the “no work, no pay rule” applies and that they may be held liable for any damage to property.
