Pothole Reporting App – Vala Zonke

In August, Operation Vala Zonke, a collaborative programme by the Department of Transport (DoT) and its road agencies, was launched.

As part of the initiative, the SANRAL app was rolled out where motorists can report any potholes on any road. SANRAL will be using the assistance of road users on a National level to identify roads with potholes and this will then enable SANRAL to follow up with relevant Road Authority on why potholes are not repaired on their roads and where needed to make arrangements for repair of potholes.

Agri SA and its members has engaged with SANRAL following the launch, to provide a comprehensive list of roads that are in a bad state across the country, particularly in rural areas, as per a previous survey done by Agri SA and its members. SANRAL has subsequently undertaken to use this information. Agri SA and its members also further encourages all its members and the broader community to download the app and use it to track progress on affected roads and to help SANRAL gather further information on areas that may have been missed previously.

The app is live and can be downloaded from the Apple Store for iOS users and the Google Play Store for Android users, or you can simply go to the Vala Zonke website.
