The Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Thoko Didiza, in partnership with Total SA will brief the media on the COVID-19 Agricultural Support Fund targeted for female farmers heavily hit by COVID-19.
A part of fostering Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the Agriculture and Food Security as a strong contributor to economic growth, Total SA have sponsored the sum of R1,350 000.00 (one million, three hundred and fifty thousand rand only) in support of 36 female farmers in the substence (18) and smallholder (18) categories who are previous beneficiaries of the FEA programme and are in dire distress due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This support will go a long way in strengthening and reaffirming the significance of the partnership between Total SA and Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development towards advancing women empowerment in the sector, thereby also affording women an opportunity to contribute towards food security, job creation and poverty alleviation.
