POLICE have arrested a 29 year old suspect for the murder of Peter Terrence Rizzato (62).
Rizaato was gunned down last month on his Hluhluwe farm after six armed men attacked and kidnapped employees of the farm.
Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said a substantial amount of cash and cellphones were taken from the farm employees before the men sped off with Rizzato’s car.
“Police were alerted and attended to the gruesome scene where they found Rizzato in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds to the chest.
“A case of murder and house robbery was opened at the Hluhluwe police station … Following a round the clock investigation, one of the six suspects was arrested and will be charged for murder and robbery.”
He will appear at the Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal Agricultural Union, Koos Marais, commended the professional conduct of the police.
“They were compassionate and respectful towards all the victims of this heinous crime and carried out their duties above and beyond our expectations”, he said.
