Draft Water and Sanitation Services Policy on Privately Owned Land
The Draft Policy aims to define the Department of Water and Sanitation’s (DWS) obligations in regulating and supporting the provision of water services to residents living on privately owned land and establishes basic principles to be applied in achieving access to water-related infrastructure, the establishment of institutional arrangements, financial and internal and external coordination mechanisms and implementation responsibilities. It proposes that it must be applied to achieve sustainable and equitable water supply and sanitation provision to residents living on privately owned land. It has specific bearing on the provision of water services on privately owned agricultural land.
