Civil Unrest – Destroyed, Affected or Looted Workplaces – Temporary Financial Relief Scheme

Destroyed, Affected or Looted Workplaces – Temporary Financial Relief Scheme

The Department of Employment and Labour in conjunction with the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs has issued direction for the establishment of a Temporary Financial Relief Scheme (“The Scheme”) aimed at assisting employers who were unable to operate because they had to close their businesses on account of the unrest.

In terms of the direction, this closure or partial closure of the business must be due to the business being destroyed, affected, or looted during the unrest between the 9th to the 18th of July 2021 in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

The UIF is currently reconfiguring its systems for processing temporary financial relief claims. An announcement will be made on the claims process, platforms and the date from which claims can be submitted.

Werkplekke wat vernietig, geaffekteer of geplunder is - Tydelike finansiële hulpskema
