Dan Kriek resigns after 25 years of involvement in organised agriculture
It is with sadness that Agri SA’s Board received Dan Kriek’s notice of resignation as President of Agri SA. After long and thorough consideration, Kriek decided to step down from this position with effect from 31 December 2019, due to health and stress-related reasons. He will now focus on his business interests and farming enterprise.
“Agri SA is now entering a critical period in which much time and energy will have to be devoted to protecting the Constitution and to negotiating sustainable land reform solutions,” says Kriek. “The organisation will need dynamic leadership to deal with these challenges. The reputation that the organisation currently enjoys has come from a lot of hard work and has always put enormous demands on the leadership – including myself.
Kriek showed his clear commitment to Agri SA and its endeavours.
“Agri SA wants to express its sincere gratitude to Dan for his leadership the past two years and the role he played to position Agri SA as an influential organisation which has an important role in the future of South Africa and particularly the agricultural sector,” says Pierre Vercueil, Deputy President of Agri SA.
Vercueil will be President of Agri SA until the 2020 congress where the president is annually elected. Agri SA wishes him well in this very important task that he will undertake.
